The straight boom cylinder luffing crane has a 'closed box' luffing boom. Luffing is done by 1 or 2 hydraulic cylinders. Lifting is done by hydraulic driven winches. Slewing is done by a slewing gearbox which drives the slewing ring bearing. The crane can be driven by the hydraulic system on the vessel, but is mostly executed with a built-in powerpack.
